This is a lush setting of Danny Boy (Londonderry Air) for clarinet quintet featuring a descant B flat Clarinet I part soaring above the melody adding an additional level of richness and a broadening of the sheer beauty of the original line. There is also the addition of an interlude, in the form of a jig, which is based on the melody. The arrangement concludes with a recall of the second portion of the arrangement for a stirring finish.
