John Philip Sousa composed this march for a premier performance at The Congress Hall Hotel in the summer of 1882. Throughout the mid 1850s until the late 1890s, this historic hotel served as a prime center of state business and was frequently visited by several Presidents and policymakers, as well as a favored vacation venue of Sousa. With a full concert band instrumentation, along with changes in the instrumental scoring and percussion lines, Jonathan Nelson’s arrangement enhances its charm even further. A guaranteed winner!
